Volunteer Voices: Spotlight on Jennifer Monroe

AAOE recently recognized Jennifer Monroe, Director of Patient Financial Services at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee for her work on the Education Council. Jennifer has previously served AAOE in several capacities and has been a speaker at our conferences. We appreciate her commitment to our organization and thank her for sharing her volunteer voice.
Which AAOE member benefit do you use most and why?
The annual conference is the pinnacle event for connections and learning. Hopefully, you plan to join us in Louisville April 20-22, 2026! Second to this, Collaborate is very beneficial the remainder of the year, and knowing those who are commenting or asking questions lends credibility to the information shared.
What made you decide to volunteer with AAOE for this particular Council and what words of encouragement do you have for others that may consider doing so?
Education is important and inspiring to me. I started my career as a teacher, and while I quickly moved into healthcare administration, I have continued teaching new processes and it is rewarding to see individuals have their own "lightbulb" moments as they grow and learn. My service on AAOE’s Education Council is rewarding, connecting, and informative.
Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession?
Orthopedic practices treat five generations, ages 0-100, because we all have joints, bones, and muscles. I enjoy knowing we are treating athletes, children, those who have acute injuries and those experience inevitable age-related needs. The field is growing and there is so much opportunity to serve patients well by using improved operational practices supported by technology. Orthopedic care supports the framework for the entire body and relieves pain, so the critical nature of the field is continuous.
Gratitude to Jennifer! We are thankful for your leadership, efforts, and insights.
