Volunteer Voices - Spotlight on Lindsey Luke

Our latest AAOE Volunteer Voice comes from Lindsey Luke, MBA, CMBE. We recently honored her service on the Young and New Professionals Council. Lindsey is the Chief Operating Officer at Alabama Bone and Joint Clinic in Pelham, Alabama. A volunteer on the Membership Council as well, she finds value in our association’s focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and guidance from peers navigating similar challenges. Thank you, Lindsey, for your leadership and commitment to empowering the next generation of orthopedic leaders – along with sharing the following:
What made you decide to volunteer with AAOE and what words of encouragement do you have for others that may consider doing so?
AAOE was very helpful for me when I first started in orthopedics. I came from a specialty much different than orthopedics. I loved that there was an organization dedicated to just the orthopedic space. It was easy to connect with other practices for guidance and information sharing about what was trending in orthopedics. I encourage anyone who wears many hats in their practice to volunteer. Councils are made up of people in different roles and those connections are so valuable. In addition to giving back to an organization that has helped me, I learn new things every time the Young and New Professionals Council and the Membership Council meet. My involvement makes me feel connected, supported and motivated!
Which AAOE benefit or service do you use most and why?
The Collaborate community. Sometimes I go searching for something specific and find helpful answers and other times I just go out there to see what the hot topics are. You can learn so much about what is working for other practices, what is not working, and possible things on the horizon to make our practices successful.
Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession?
It’s an ever evolving space. It never gets dull in the orthopedic world. With organizations like AAOE and various regional opportunities, it feels like a tight knit specialty. You never feel alone.
We are so pleased you feel this way about your professional membership association, Lindsey. You have our gratitude for your support and volunteerism!
