Volunteer Voices: Spotlight on Alexia Kirk

Volunteer Voices,

Lexi Kirk

We are pleased to present our latest Volunteer Voice – Alexia “Lexi” Kirk.  She served as Office Manager at Suncoast Orthopaedic Institute in Venice, Florida until September 17.  Lexi appreciates all their practice did for her, including their encouragement of her AAOE involvement and volunteer service.

Congratulations to Lexi as she transitions into her brand new position as Front Office Manager at Family Spine and Pain Care Institute in Venice, Florida.

Lexi has our gratitude for not only recently joining the Technology Council, but also for stepping up to serve as chair! We honor her initiative and service. Lexi shared the following with us:

Which three words describe how you’ve felt about being on the Technology Council so far?

Innovative. Collaborative. Rewarding. It has been an incredible opportunity to bring together diverse perspectives, explore tools that can transform how practices operate, and work as a team to advocate for technology that benefits both providers and patients. Our conversations strike a balance between addressing today’s real-world needs and embracing future innovations, helping keep us at the forefront of change.

What made you decide to volunteer with AAOE and what words of encouragement do you have for others that may consider doing so?

At my first AAOE conference in May of this year, I was inspired by the energy, collaboration, and sense of community among colleagues who share similar challenges and passions. Volunteering felt like the natural next step to stay engaged in such a positive experience. In healthcare, we face high-pressure situations daily, and AAOE provides a refreshing opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute in meaningful ways. Even small contributions… sharing an idea, offering perspective, or supporting a colleague can make a difference. To those considering volunteering, I’d encourage you to dive in. You’ll gain just as much as you give, if not more.

Which AAOE member benefit do you use most and why?

While I value several benefits, AAOE Collaborate stands out the most. It’s an invaluable space where practices of all sizes can connect, share experiences, and problem-solve together. Whether it’s departmental challenges, workflow improvements, or even simply confirming that “we’re not the only ones going through this,” AAOE Collaborate provides both practical advice and a sense of support. It turns what could feel like isolated challenges into opportunities to learn from peers who have walked the same path.

Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession?

Orthopedics combines science, skill, and impact in such a unique way. It’s a specialty where you can see tangible, often immediate results from the work being done. From preventive strategies to surgical interventions, orthopedics helps restore mobility, independence, and quality of life. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching a patient go from being “broken” to being able to walk, work, or play again. That transformation drives my enthusiasm for the profession every day.

Keep up the great work, Lexi! We appreciate you and wish you all the very best in your new role.
