#AAOE2026: 3 Minutes with Nate Moore

AAOE Conference,

At this year’s AAOE Annual Conference, taking place April 20-22 in Louisville, Kentucky, Nate Moore, Moore Solutions Inc., will challenge how you think about appointment data. We asked him a few quick questions to preview his session—and the answers were too good not to share.

Session: Using Appointment Data to Improve the 3 Ps: Profitability, Patient Access, and Provider Satisfaction

1. What’s one myth or outdated practice you’re going to bust in your session—and why does it matter now more than ever?

Appointment data is mostly about preventing no shows and scheduling providers.  Appointment data is the start of a practice’s revenue cycle and provides all kinds of good opportunities to improve your bottom line.

2. What’s a mistake you see practices make over and over again—and what could they do instead?

They look at past schedules like a scoreboard instead of a dashboard.
Too many practices treat analytics as a post-mortem. But appointment data can—and should—be used to predict demand, identify friction points, and course-correct before they turn into lost visits or frustrated providers.

3. What’s one idea from your session that attendees can implement the next day—and what kind of results could it unlock?

Run a quick report showing how many follow-ups are scheduled in new patient slots.
That simple insight can reveal hidden access issues and give you a lever to immediately open up availability for revenue-generating visits — and prevent next month’s surgical schedule from drying up.

4. If you could sit next to a first-time attendee during your session, what would you whisper in their ear to help them get the most out of it?

“Don’t worry—we’re not doing calculus.”
This session is about practical ways to use the data you already have to make smarter, faster decisions. No SQL or coding required—just insight that drives action.

5. What’s something you wish you had known earlier in your career that you’ll be sharing with attendees?

That most underperformance issues aren’t personnel problems—they’re pattern problems.
Once you learn to read the patterns in appointment data, you can solve the root issues behind poor access, revenue dips, or provider burnout.

6. Why should someone who’s still on the fence about attending the conference not miss your session?

Because your appointment schedule is either silently leaking revenue—or silently saving it.
If you’re not using your data to plan staffing, balance templates, or spot drop-off points, you’re flying blind. This session gives you a roadmap to operational foresight

7. What’s one trend in healthcare—or in orthopedics specifically—that’s influencing your session topic right now?

The move toward data-driven staffing and capacity management
With demand outpacing provider availability, practices are finally realizing that how you schedule is just as important as who you schedule. Data is the difference-maker.

In a challenging environment with heavy demands on staff and difficulties in recruiting and retaining quality staff, having the right tools and insights isn’t optional—it’s essential. Nate will give you both. But only if you’re in the room.
