AAOE Benchmarking
Data year 2025 submissions due August 31, 2026

Stop guessing. See how your practice actually compares.

You do not have to complete every section, and you do not have to figure it out alone. Choose the participation option that works for your team, and AAOE will help you move it across the finish line.

"Why not just ask AI?" General AI tools can summarize public information, but they cannot benchmark your practice against current, confidential data. Much of the compensation, productivity, staffing, operational, and financial information practices need is not publicly available, and AI-generated answers may be outdated or inaccurate when reliable source data does not exist. AAOE Benchmarking is built from real submissions from practices, giving you current, specific comparisons you can trust.

Why should I care?

Because a number without context is still a guess.

Benchmarking helps you understand whether a result is a real problem, normal for the industry, or if there is an opportunity for you that is sitting in plain sight.

Public information and AI-generated answers can provide general guidance, but they cannot replace current, confidential benchmarking data from practices like yours. Reliable decisions require reliable comparisons.

Find hidden opportunities

See where your practice is outperforming, falling behind, or leaving revenue and efficiency on the table.

Make better decisions

Use objective orthopedic data to guide budgeting, staffing, compensation, pricing, and operations.

Back up your recommendations

Walk into board, physician, and leadership conversations with comparable data instead of opinions.

Compare the right peers

Benchmark your practice, providers, and staff against similar orthopedic practices across sizes and settings.

What can the data tell you?

Questions practice leaders are already being asked

  • Are we paying competitively?
  • Are our collections where they should be?
  • Are our staffing levels reasonable?
  • Are our providers producing at expected levels?
  • How does our payer mix compare?
  • Where are we leaving money on the table?
From data to decisions

This is not a report you file away.

AAOE members use benchmarking data in board meetings, compensation conversations, and everyday operational decisions.

A blind spot became a measurable fix

One practice learned its days in accounts receivable ranked in the 25th percentile. It redesigned front-end processes, improved insurance verification and co-pay collection, and reduced denials and mismatched information.

They would not have known where the process was underperforming without the comparison.

A hunch became a successful business case

An administrator compared her compensation with leaders at similarly sized orthopedic practices. She brought the objective data to her board, which approved a significant increase.

The right peer data gave leadership a credible reason to act.
