Volunteer Voices: Spotlight on David Yoho

Volunteer Voices,

David B. Yoho provides our latest AAOE Volunteer Voice. David serves as Administrator for Carolina Regional Orthopaedics in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We recently recognized him for his service on the Benchmarking Council. David was inspired to volunteer after seeing the value and sophistication of AAOE’s benchmarking efforts. With experience across ophthalmology, multispecialty, and orthopedic practice settings, he was eager to contribute to a process that helps keep AAOE’s survey relevant and valuable for members across the profession. We are grateful to him for his commitment to our organization and for sharing the following:

What made you decide to volunteer with AAOE and what words of encouragement do you have for others that may consider doing so?

"I am an administrator who came to orthopedics from ophthalmology and multispecialty practices.  Having contributed to surveys for other associations in the past, I was impressed that AAOE had the infrastructure to conduct a survey of membership like the Benchmarking Survey. After having completed the survey, and attending two AAOE annual conferences, I wanted to see if there was anything that I could contribute to the ongoing process of making the survey relevant to all. To others, I would say that volunteering also puts you in touch with other like-minded orthopedic practice leaders. You will be able to ask questions and/or share your knowledge in a way not available on an ongoing basis in your regular job. My volunteer experience on the AAOE Benchmarking Council makes me feel grateful, comfortable, and challenged. ”

Which AAOE benefit or service do you use most and why?

I always like to read through the posts in the AAOE Main Digest on the Collaborate community. I have posed questions a couple of times and have always received  great, helpful feedback from other managers.

Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession?

The orthopedic practice profession is in a field that is dynamic and ever changing. That appeals to me. I really enjoy being in the middle of an industry where new technologies make a difference in helping people overcome their orthopedic health challenges.

Thank you, David, for your thoughtful contributions to strengthening orthopedic practice excellence through benchmarking!
