Volunteer Voices: Spotlight on Cathy Higgins

Volunteer Voices,

We are pleased to share the Volunteer Voice of Cathy Higgins, CEO of BoulderCentre for Orthopedics & Spine in Boulder, Colorado. She was recently recognized for her service on the AAOE Annual Conference Council.

AAOE became an essential source of support for Cathy early in her leadership journey, providing valuable recources and guidance as she stepped into her CEO role. Volunteering became her way of giving back to AAOE for shaping her professional growth. We are grateful to Cathy for her commitment, and for sharing these insights:

What made you decide to volunteer with AAOE and what words of encouragement do you have for others that may consider doing so?

AAOE was a lifesaver for me when I first became CEO of BoulderCentre for Orthopedics.  The education and networking are invaluable.  So, I wanted to give back and help support this wonderful organization. I felt proud, appreciative, and appreciated by my service on the Annual Conference Council.

Which AAOE benefit or service do you use most and why?

Collaborate is the best! I love the daily online conversations. Educational events (i.e. the new billing and coding course) for my employees, too.

Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession?

It is one of few specialties where independent practice is thriving and I'm passionate about that.

We appreciate you, Cathy! Thank you for you volunteer service and dedication to our association.
