Volunteer Voices: Spotlight on Alyshia Stevenson

Volunteer Voices,

Alyshia Stevenson MPH, ATC/LAT, CHFP, CSPPM, CRCR  is today’s Volunteer Voice.  Alyshia serves as Revenue Cycle Manager at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee.  We are pleased to honor her work on the AAOE Benchmarking Council. A big  shout out to Alyshia for her time and dedication as an AAOE volunteer.

Which AAOE member benefit or resource do you utilize most often and why? "Of all the benefits AAOE offers, I rely most on the Benchmarking Survey.

It’s the tool I turn to year after year for making data-driven decisions in our practice. The survey helps me identify trends, set realistic goals, and advocate for resources based on evidence, not just gut instinct. It truly empowers better conversations at every level of leadership."

Why are you enthusiastic about the orthopedic practice profession? "Because it's an ever-evolving field where clinical excellence and operational strategy intersect. Our work directly impacts patient care, and the better we manage our practices, the better outcomes we enable for our communities."

What experiences or encouragement about serving as an AAOE volunteer would you like to share with your peers? "When I first said yes to volunteering with AAOE, I never imagined just how rewarding the experience would be—not only professionally, but personally as well. If you're considering volunteering, I can’t encourage you enough to go for it. You don’t need to be an expert or have all the answers. What you do need is curiosity, a willingness to contribute, and an open mind. You’ll gain so much more than you give—insights into the profession, deeper relationships, and a sense of purpose in shaping the future of orthopedics. Reflecting on my service with the Benchmarking Council, three words come to mind: engaged, valued, and inspired. I’m incredibly grateful to AAOE for creating a space where members can contribute in meaningful ways. I encourage you to join AAOE’s volunteer community: aaoe.net/volunteer."

Gratitude to Alyshia for sharing your experiences and for all she does for our organization!
