Potentially Misvalued Codes

Each year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association's (AMA) Relative Value Unit (RVU) Update Committee (RUC) review submissions from providers of potentially misvalued codes for inclusion in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. If you believe that a code your practice bills is misvalued, enter the required information below and AAOE staff will submit this information for review.

Before you begin:

  • Submitters can hover over underlined categories for more information.
  • Supporting documentation must be uploaded with the potentially misvalued code. We must have evidence to submit to CMS that a code may be misvalued. If there are questions about what kind of evidence is needed, please email
  • To navigate back to this page to submit more codes, simply type in your browser.
  • The due date for potentially misvalued codes is February 8 but AAOE may make additional recommendations to CMS during the public comment period for the Physician Fee Schedule. Codes received after the due date and not meeting criteria for public comment recommendation will be submitted in next year's submission period.
