Baltimore, MD - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has finalized its proposal to delay proposed changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) payment-model until January 1, 2018. These provisions include § 510.405(b)(1), (2), and (4) which cover notifications to beneficiaries and the addition of non-physician group practices and therapy group practices to the collaborators responsible for compliance with beneficiary notification requirements.

Provisions allowing hospitals and eligible clinicians to participate in CJR as an Advanced APM are effective May 20, 2017 and, according to CMS, "will allow eligible clinicians on a CJR affiliated practitioner list to potentially qualify as Qualifying APM Participants (QPs) under the Quality Payment Program in 2017."
