Baltimore, MD - The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) has reopened the Direct Contracting Model for applications for the first performance cohort. A practice wishing to participate in the model must first complete a Letter of Intent and then will be given access to the first performance year application.

The Direct Contracting Model is a two-sided risk model featuring capitated payments. While the focus of Direct Contracting is primary care, specialists are able to participate in the model either as a participant or as a preferred provider with a participant.

Letters of intent are due by July 6, 2020 for the first performance year, the previous deadline was February 25, 2020. The first performance year begins in 2021 and runs through 2025. Read more about the Direct Contracting Model here.
