Inspiring Keynote Messages

Futurist, trends, and innovation expert Jim Carroll sparked healthy fear in attendees with his powerful message about the future of healthcare. Technology and trends are changing more rapidly than ever, and healthcare leaders must keep up in order for their practices to survive and thrive. Carroll provided insight into these trends and his forecast for how they will affect healthcare delivery in the coming years.

Adventurer and fear guru Patrick Sweeney brought the conference full circle by explaining the psychology behind fear and why leaders must break out from this "prison" to experience their, and their organization's, true potential. It is this type of intimidation that can even prevent conference attendees from implementing cutting-edge strategies once they return to the office, anticipating pushback from staff or worse, failure. But he warned against holding yourself back from taking strategic risks. Sweeney demonstrated tangible neuroscience techniques for attendees to begin using right away to increase their power, success, and influence.

Celebrating 50 Years of Connections

AAOE's milestone conference was filled with opportunities to reflect on the association's transformation, celebrate its legacy, and look ahead to its bright future. The 50th Anniversary Celebration was an evening filled with entertainment as attendees met with old and new friends alike. They danced to live music, snapped fun photos in the photo booth, enjoyed boat rides around Delta Island, met country music star impersonators, and received their special anniversary gift, all under the twinkling lights strung over Delta Island, offering a unique "outdoor" experience within the conference venue.

At the IGNITE General Session the following morning, several AAOE Past Presidents were in attendance and were recognized onstage. Attendees viewed the 50th anniversary video, which featured interviews from past and current members who shared stories about AAOE's past and their hopes for its future. At the end of the IGNITE General Session, attendees received the special anniversary book, which included pieces of advice from past and current members.

Unique Learning Formats

More than 70 educational sessions were offered on a variety of orthopedic-specific topics. Unique learning formats provided impactful and memorable educational experiences that attendees won't soon forget!

Popular Brain Breaks were offered again this year to allow attendees to take a break from industry content and focus on their own personal growth.

New this year, five-minute IGNITE "edu-tainment" sessions kept attendees on the edge of their seats as speakers' presentation slides auto-advanced, whether speakers were ready or not! This fast-paced format was as fun as it was informative! Click here to watch the video.

Also new this year were TED-Style Talks, where three speakers gave inspiring talks delivered in 20 minutes or less. Scheduled in the final block of education, it was the perfect chance for attendees to gain the motivation needed to head back to the office and implement their top conference takeaways. Click here to watch the video.

Learning Loft sessions projected presentation slides onto five content areas to provide a creative educational experience. Speakers like Beth Ziesenis, Your Nerdy Best Friend, and Lauren Pasqualone, LP2 Boutique Agency, used this unique format to create powerful presentations.

Conference recordings are available now for purchase! Get year-round professional development for yourself and staff, and access recordings anytime, anywhere, whenever it fits best in your schedule.

Building Industry Connections

Events like networking by practice size and function area provided important opportunities for attendees to connect with peers facing issues similar to their own. Informal networking happened throughout the conference in hallway conversations, the Exhibit Hall, at meals, and in sessions.

Attendees who visited the Exhibit Hall met industry representatives who offer a wealth of knowledge that can help with purchasing decisions this year. You can still view the list of more than 150 companies who exhibited this year and reach out for answers to any questions you might have!

Get Empowered

AAOE announced the rebrand of the Data Warehouse, now called AAOE Empower. At the Empower Station, attendees learned more about this valuable practice resource that offers patient satisfaction, registry reporting, and data import services. Those who attended the free pre-conference session, "Looking Beyond Operational Data: Connecting Satisfaction, Outcome, and Quality Data to Benchmarking Results," got a deep dive on the data practices need to improve quality of care. A great way to get started is by taking AAOE's Benchmarking Survey, which is open now through June 1. Take the survey to receive the results for free!
