Attending a large conference like AAOE's 2019 Annual Conference can be equal parts exciting and overwhelming. The conference's four days include more than 80 educational sessions to choose from, the chance to connect with more than 140 exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall, two amazing keynote speakers, and opportunities to meet peers at networking and social events. Those are a lot of choices. Prioritization is key.

The conference is much easier to navigate if you take the time to plan beforehand. The first step? Creating your personal agenda.

Conference registrants can create or edit their personal agendas in the Attendee Service Center (login details were provided in your registration confirmation email) by editing your registration form. You also can create it in the mobile app when it is available approximately two weeks before the conference.

AAOE provides the tools to help you make your personal agenda, but with so many options to choose from, knowing which sessions to include may not be so simple.

To help you out, AAOE member volunteers offered their insider tips and tricks for the Conference 101 video, available for free in the On-Demand Learning Center. Here are some of their top takeaways.

  • Review the educational sessions in the Preliminary Program or on the conference website. Meet with appropriate staff and determine which sessions align with your practice's current needs. Consider your practice's goals for the year.
  • Identify sessions most relevant for your role. This year, sessions are categorized (in the window that opens, view the categories in the orange menu on the left hand side) by recommended audience and function area to help narrow this down for you!
  • Coworkers coming with you? Divide and conquer! Strategize who will attend which sessions based on each person's role within the practice.
  • Download the mobile app! Conference registrants will be notified when the mobile app is available, approximately two weeks before the conference. Download the app to access speaker presentations and handouts. Use the notes function in the app while onsite at the conference to take session-specific notes. You can email session materials and notes to yourself to save for future reference!
