Three Ways the AAOE Registry can Save you Time and Money in Your MIPS Reporting

2019 is the third year of the MIPS program. It also happens to be the second year that AAOE has been approved as a qualified clinical data registry (QCDR) under the program. In light of this, we wanted to take a few moments and explain how the AAOE Registry can help you and your MIPS eligible clinicians report data for the 2019 performance period, potentially saving you time and money.

The AAOE Registry is the only musculoskeletal registry that allows clinicians to benchmark their performance with their peers. This is an invaluable tool for many reasons, but none more so than ensuring that patient care remains the clinician's top priority. If patient care starts to drop, the clinician's performance relative to his/her peers will begin to fall and you and your managing partners can address the situation earlier.

This benchmarking capability also allows your clinicians to better compete on the quality of care provided. Performance on these measures relative to other clinicians can be highlighted in practice marketing, encouraging patients to utilize high quality healthcare providers.

New Policies Encourage Reporting to Multiple Submission Methods

CMS has also made changes that make it more important than ever to begin reporting to the AAOE Registry in 2019! In 2017, CMS finalized a policy allowing eligible clinicians to report via multiple submission methods within the same performance category. When a measure is submitted via multiple submission methods, CMS will take the highest score the physician earns among the different submission types and apply that to the clinician's category score. If your clinicians want to maximize their performance in 2019, reporting to the AAOE Registry is one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to do that.

All-In One Solution

For 2019, the AAOE Registry has::

  •  Expanded the number of quality measures supported from 27 to 60
  • Added the Improvement Activities and Promoting Interoperability Categories
  • Included physical and occupational therapists as providers
  • Added 16 validated survey instruments that can be used to collect data needed for several quality measures

This functionality and the low-cost of participation, makes the AAOE Registry a cost-effective all-in one solution for practices.

Customer Service

In addition to the technology, AAOE has staff ready to assist participants throughout the data collection and reporting process. Staff can help you implement surveys, upload data, and provide guidance on the requirements for the 2019 performance year.
