Indianapolis, IN - The American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) is proud to announce a new tool to help orthopaedic practice executives forecast the impact of government policies on their practices. With our new Evaluation and Management calculator, you can determine how CMS' proposed changes to E/M reimbursement for 2019 will affect your practice.

The calculator uses the proposed CY 2019 RVUs and conversion factor to calculate non-indexed payment rates for new patient, established patient, podiatry new patient, and podiatry established patient codes. To use the calculator, simply enter in the number of providers billing the E/M services. This can be done for each individual provider or for all providers.

The per visit payment is non-editable and reflects the non-indexed value of the codes based on CY 2019 work, practice expense and malpractice RVUs, and the 2019 conversion factor. Then enter in the number of visits; you can use historical data from 2018, 2017, etc. or attempt to project your 2019 E/M volume.

Once you have entered in the required information, the calculator will tell you how much you can expect to see in 2019 if CMS finalizes this policy. Use the results to inform your physicians of how the policy will impact their reimbursements or use your results to write comments to CMS about its proposal (AAOE can help with that too!). You can even use this to help you plan your budgets for next year if your practice is mostly providing E/M services.*

At the moment, this tool is available only for the use of AAOE members so get a leg-up on your local competitors and calculate your 2019 reimbursement estimates today!

*Please note: these calculator results are not adjusted with the geographic practice cost indices (GPCI) for each RVU so actual reimbursements, if this policy is finalized, may be lower or higher (anywhere from $40 higher to $22 lower than the estimates shown depending on practice MAC locality).
