Hello Fellow AAOE Members,

I need to share a story with you. In April, during the IndyPalooza event of the 2017 AAOE conference, I had the good fortune of meeting Robin Fielding, CEO of the Orthopedic Center of South Florida. During our conversation, she mentioned that Florida Bones supports a charity called Give Kids the World (GKTW). The past couple of years AAOE conference attendees and exhibitors have provided financial support to a local charity, so that got my attention thinking about our 2018 conference in Orlando.

I found out that GKTW fulfills Make a Wish requests for children who want to go to Disney World, Universal Studios, or SeaWorld. I had no idea that half of all requests made by children with life-threatening diseases make this theme park wish. I'd not heard of GKTW, but they have fulfilled these wishes in grand style for more than 154,000 children from all 50 U.S. states and 76 different countries.

And they have created lifetime memories for entire families during their toughest of times. The 84-acre GKTW Village is almost a small town with a putt-putt course, an ice cream shop, and other specialty themed buildings that rival anything you would see at any of the theme parks. Make a Wish kids and their families stay in the 168 villas for a week of new experiences with support from the very special GKTW staff and volunteers.

A full 100% of each family's expenses are covered, so you can imagine the ongoing need for donations. That's why AAOE has selected Give Kids the World as the beneficiary of our fund-raising efforts this year. We, AAOE members and vendor partners, can make a difference in the lives of so many to help make wishes come true.

In the coming weeks you'll see more information in AAOE communications with ideas for how you, your practice, and even your staff members can be involved.

Let's all Give Kids the World.
