Description:

In this session, the presenter will build off of the discussion from May 2019, focused on Employee Engagement as Strategy and practical tactics to implement in your practice to improve employee engagement. He will discuss the importance of being engaged and aligned for not just your staff, but also for leaders and physicians, and the impact it has on your practice. Hear success stories regarding changing culture as well as some lessons learned to help leaders be cognizant of this approach in their own leadership roles. The presentation will also include the perspective of a physician.


Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the connection between employee engagament and operational success.
  2. Recognize the importance of alignment of physicians and alignment of leaders and staff.
  3. Recognize the importance of timing for engagement and alignment efforts.
  4. Assess your own engagement as a leader.
  5. Assess the alignment of your physicians and leadership team for the benefit of your staff.

 Ryan Smith

Ryan Smith has been in healthcare for the last 16 years, starting in business development and gaining experience in small rural hospital leadership, large system leadership, integration with the Mayo Clinic, and most recently in private practice management within orthopedics. Smith is a leader focused on building culture, engagement, and alignment, and his work in these areas led to his hospital being recognized as the top hospital workplace in the state of Minnesota in 2014. Smith continues to work to bring these principles to his current role in orthopedic practice management in a time of incredible change for his organization.
