Title: Understanding Orthopaedic Staff Roles

Description:

Do you believe that the roles your employees play on your orthopaedic practice staff are identical to their job titles and/or their job descriptions? Do you believe that staff roles are best determined by personality type? This webinar suggests that a more effective way to build and manage your orthopaedic practice team is to define team roles through employee behaviors. The speaker will provide 10 rules of behavioral team roles that can help orthopaedic administrators select and build high-performing teams, build more productive staff relationships, improve the employee recruitment process, build greater team trust and understanding, and increase their own effectiveness. This speaker introduces and describes in detail Belbin’s highly-regarded and widely-used team role theory, and she offers lessons learned when applying team role theory to practice. Finally, she offers an easy-to-implement method for assessing current team roles and a simple four-question checklist that will help orthopaedic administrators balance an imbalanced team.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how balancing behavioral team roles can strengthen an orthopaedic practice team.
  • Understand at least three benefits of a behaviorally balanced orthopaedic team.
  • Recognize up to nine behavioral team roles in Meredith Belbin’s team role theory.
  • Assess your orthopaedic staff to determine if they are behaviorally balanced.
  • Identify at least four strategies you can use to balance a behaviorally imbalanced orthopaedic staff.
