PM101: MACRA: MIPS and Alternative Payment Models
Share |

Speaker: Jason McCormick, MHA, Manager, Process Improvement, Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics

During this session, you will learn about the transition of reimbursement for care from the “fee-for-service” model to “value-based” models and how the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) legislation proposes the transition be implemented.

After this session, you will:

  • Be able to identify the reasons for the change in reimbursement to providers for delivery of care to Medicare beneficiaries and what changes MACRA legislation proposes to better control costs and quality of care provided.
  • Be able to define Alternative Payment Models (ALPs) and identify the programs that providers have to be enrolled in to be eligible to participate. You will be able to identify the care providers’ requirements for participation and reporting data to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Understand how to use a QRUR report to determine current quality and cost status.
  • Understand how and why patient satisfaction fits in to the payment models.
