Following the best practices of established professional societies, AAOE recently formed a new Ethics Council.

The purpose of the Ethics Council is to protect the interests of individual members as well as the AAOE as an organization. The council will monitor the activities of the AAOE, advise the Board and management on ethical issues confronting the AAOE, and adjudicate complaints through the established grievance process.

The council have reviewed and updated several important policies, keeping them aligned with AAOE’s mission and vision. All members are encouraged to carefully review these updated policies:

  • Member Code of Ethics - The purpose of the AAOE Code of Ethics is to serve as a guide for the conduct of members. It contains standards of ethical behavior for members in their professional relationships within AAOE. The Code of Ethics also incorporates standards of ethical behavior governing personal behavior, particularly when that conduct directly relates to the role and identity of the member.
  • Grievance Procedure – This procedure outlines the steps that will be taken once a member files a complaint. Members can submit a complaint using this form.

If you have any questions about these updated policies, please contact the AAOE office at or 800-247-9699.
