Insider Tips to Make Exhibit Hall Time Fun

The Exhibit Hall of the AAOE Annual Conference is the perfect place to meet knowledgeable industry representatives who can answer questions related to your product and service needs. More than 100 vendor companies will be at the conference this year – which is pretty amazing! But that means it will important to do some planning and strategizing ahead of time to make the most of your time onsite.

To help attendees make the most of their time in the Exhibit Hall, we asked the advice of industry insiders -- two vendor representatives on the AAOE Industry Relations Advisory Board and an AAOE member volunteer on the Annual Conference Committee. More tips and tricks will be shared over the coming weeks, so check the Latest News blog for new posts!

 

AAOE: It can be a bit overwhelming when someone first walks in to an exhibit hall with displays and booths of more than 100 companies. What preparation can attendees do ahead of time to make the most of their Exhibit Hall experience?

Brandon Phillips, COO, Physicians Rehab Solution: You should come with an attack plan. You’ll get overwhelmed if you walk into the Exhibit Hall without a clear idea of which exhibitors you want to meet with. Before you go to the conference, I would suggest identifying the products and services you’re looking for. Then, search for exhibiting companies who provide those products and services, and make a list of who you’d like to meet with. If you commit to writing your list down, you’ll be better able to follow it.

 

Patti Steffon, Trade Show Specialist, Carestream Health Inc.: I would start by looking at the AAOE2018 Annual Conference Final Program, which you will receive onsite during registration. Use the exhibitor directory in the program to see which companies are going to be there. Choose the first five to 10 exhibitors you want to see and find out where their booths are in the Exhibit Hall. Go to those exhibitors first, and then visit additional ones as you have time.

 

 

Raleigh Hayter, AAOE Annual Conference member volunteer: I really like what Brandon was saying about identifying what your interests are and creating an attack plan. Normally when I go to a conference, I first list out the exhibitors that I have to talk to – my “must visit” list. Then I have my subsequent list of companies who I’m interested in talking to after I’ve spoken with the exhibitors at the top of the list. Then the third tier of my list is the companies that I might want to talk to for research if I have time left – just to see what’s out in the market and see if there’s anything that piques my interest. Usually, if I’ve hit about 90% of that list, I walk away from the conference feeling pretty good about the information I’ve gathered.
