Washington, DC - Congressman Tom Price (R-GA), an orthopaedic surgeon prior to his congressional career, is reportedly being considered by the Trump transition team to head the Department of Health and Human Services, according to Politico.
"Tom Price has been loyal to Donald Trump from the outset and his knowledge of health care is second to none," a Republican source close to the campaign told the newspaper. "Him being in contention for HHS secretary makes perfect sense."
The Congressman currently chairs the House Budget Committee and has been one of the top voices pushing for a repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Politico also indicates that former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is also under consideration for the post.
This news comes as the front-runner for the position, Dr. Ben Carson, a former neurosurgeon, pulled his name from consideration for a cabinet position on Tuesday.
