Advocacy has become a more significant focus and benefit for AAOE members, particularly over the past year as we work to expand our advocacy efforts. On November 8, 2015, the AAOE Board of Directors voted to create the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives, a parallel membership organization with a 501(c)(6) tax status. This was a major step forward in achieving our goal to enhance our advocacy for members.
But in order to better advocate for our members, we need to have the right data. "On Capitol Hill and in the halls of CMS, data is king," AAOE Government Affairs Manager Bradley Coffey said in a conversation about advocacy and data. "As an organization, we need to bring a unique perspective on the issues faced by our members and data is one of the best ways to do that. Specialty specific data can be immensely helpful to us as we are trying to push our members' agendas in DC."
That is where the AAOE Benchmarking Survey comes in. The practice data collected from the survey is compiled into interactive benchmarking reports that can be viewed by filters such as practice size, state, and region, among others. This allows AAOE to view the types of practices our membership represent. We are better able to advocate for our members when we understand what their unique needs and situations are.
Not only are the interactive benchmarking reports beneficial for our advocacy work for members—they are a valuable resource for practice executives as they are making strategic decisions. The reports include a range of customized features (which have been updated and expanded this year) so that you can take advantage of the useful data in the report and see the information that matters most to you and your practice. Access to the benchmarking reports is free for anyone who completes the Benchmarking Survey.
However, the deadline to complete the survey is July 29, so there are only a few days left. Download the survey today and help AAOE better advocate for you and other members!
