On Thursday, December 10, 2015 the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) was awarded the Outstanding Association Website from the Indiana Society of Association Executives (ISAE). Entries for the award were accepted by an association or society website that directly benefits members and displays current design best practices, easy navigation, and strong functionality.
AAOE launched the new website in September 2015. Information is now easier for members to access and staff is able to pull information more efficiently from the back-end of the website. Additionally, in an attempt to further make it easier on AAOE members, staff integrated disparate platforms so that members only need one username and password, as opposed to several for each third-party, partner website. Now, when members sign up for a webinar, they are automatically registered with our webinar platform – saving both member time and staff time.
The website was also designed with our industry partners in mind, by creating a navigation tab that is exclusively for them. AAOE’s industry partners can visit their own section of the website for information on ways to get involved with AAOE: advertising, sponsorship, and exhibiting.
In addition to winning the Outstanding Association Website award on Thursday evening, the Executive Director of AAOE, Addy Kujawa, CAE was awarded the Association Executive of the Year. Nominees for the award were required to be actively involved in a full-time position as the chief staff executive for an association. This award was the most prestigious award presented on Thursday night.
Addy has been with AAOE since January 2010. In that time, she has dramatically increased the number of benefits for AAOE members, a fully functioning government affairs department, and developed a spearheaded campaign to raise industry awareness of the organization with Marketing General Incorporated (MGI). With the help of this campaign, AAOE finally surpassed the long-held membership ceiling of 1,400 members.
Not only does Addy come to work with a smile on her face every day, she is always eager to pass on her knowledge of the association industry to anyone that is a willing listener. She’s eager to see her staff succeed and advance in the organization. AAOE staff is encouraged to schedule weekly one-on-ones with Addy so that they may draw from her deep pool of knowledge concerning a variety of topics. All of these meetings occur despite Addy’s ridiculously busy schedule as the Executive Director of a national association.
In the past year, Addy lead AAOE to the highest attended Annual Conference in the history of the organization, increased membership past AAOE’s historical membership ceiling, drastically increased benefits and services offered to members, oversaw a successful transition of an association management system (AMS), and organized a successful strategic planning initiative in 2015 to guide AAOE for the next three years. Addy is everything that an association executive strives to be.
