Categories of AAOE Membership

Individual Active Membership

  • Individual members must have an interest in orthopaedic or musculoskeletal practice management (currently employed) and/or orthopaedic surgeons/physicians (currently practicing or retired but involved in practice operations); and/or a desire to become an orthopaedic practice executive.
  • Examples of an orthopaedic practice whose employees are eligible for membership include: academic institutions, multi-specialty practices, single specialty practices, hospitals, and health system owned practices.
  • Individual members shall have the right to vote, may serve on AAOE committees, and may serve on the AAOE Board of Directors.
  • AAOE does not accept vendor members.

Multi-Member Organization (Practice)

  • Employees of an organization may pool their memberships under their organization's name to simplify the membership process and to earn a dues discount. Dues are based on the total number of memberships affiliated with the organization. Each named employee member has personal AAOE log-in credentials and full benefits of an individual active member.
  • Examples of an orthopaedic practice whose employees are eligible for an organization membership include: academic institutions, multi-specialty practices, single specialty practices, hospitals, and health system owned practices.
  • Members at the manager level or above shall have the right to vote at general meetings, may serve on AAOE committees, and may serve on the Board of Directors. 

Emeritus Membership

  • Emeritus members must be former active members of the AAOE in good standing for a minimum of ten (10) years.
  • Emeritus members must be permanently retired from orthopaedic practice administration, ambulatory healthcare administration, or multi-specialty healthcare administration. May not be employed by a company that is classified by AAOE as a vendor and may not be a consultant.  
  • Emeritus members must be a minimum of fifty-five (55) years of age.  
  • Emeritus members may not vote or serve on the AAOE Board of Directors.

Student Membership

  • Student members must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited degree program in healthcare administration.
  • Student members must not be able to qualify as an Individual Active Member employed by an orthopaedic practice.
  • Student members may not serve on committees, may not vote, and may not serve on the Board of Directors, but otherwise have access to the benefits of Individual Active Members.

 

Membership Dues

The membership term is calendar based so January through December. If you were a member the previous year, your must renew for the full year of membership. If your membership expired at least 12 months ago, you are welcome to re-apply for membership as a new member.

Individual Membership Rates
Individual membership dues are $370 for the full year membership term (January through December). New member applicants will pay pro-rated dues based on the number of days remaining in the year. Joining in November or December, dues are paid for the following year, too.
 

Organization (Practice) Membership Rates
Dues are calculated based on the number of members affiliated with an Organization. The below rates are applicable for the full year membership term (January through December).

New member applicants will pay pro-rated dues based on the number of days remaining in the year. Joining in November or December, dues are paid for the following year, too. If you would like to be added to an existing Multi-Member Organization, please contact AAOE member services to have dues calculated for you.
